About Us
Tarek Aly MD, MPH
I am proudly from Volusia County- growing up in the Edgewater/NSB area and going to Spruce Creek High School. I went on to UCF and started a nonprofit organization in Volusia to help deliver food to homeless individuals as a means to improve communication with the community. The organization ended when I attended medical school at Ross University while simultaneously getting my Master’s in Public Health through Michigan State University.
After finishing my residency at Bergen New Bridge Medical Center in New Jersey, I went on to complete a fellowship at Harvard Medical School – Boston Children’s Hospital in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, where I served as a Chief with focus on Emergency Psychiatry, Problematic Interactive Media Use, and academic research.
I am dual board certified in Adult (2019) and Child and Adolescent (2020) Psychiatry with specialized training in ADHD, OCD, ASD, substance abuse and psychotherapy. During my time at Boston Children’s Hospital, I helped develop a treatment manual for Problematic Interactive Media Use as I have always had a passion about the overlap between mental health and interactive media.
I believe medicine and mental health can be both evidence-based and practical. I tell every one of the parents of my young patients that, “I am a parent first and a doctor second,” when we develop a treatment plan. It’s easy to look around and get frustrated with the “medicine first” mentality- a quick fix to treating the complexities of psychiatric diagnoses.
I take a conservative but evidence- based approach to medication management with the belief that the path to better mental health and functioning is a mosaic- a multidisciplinary approach including lifestyle changes, therapy, and pharmacological management when appropriate.
Sarah Mundy-Russell MSN, APRN, PMHNP-BC
I was born and raised in the Daytona Beach area and attended Mainland High School. I received an Associates of Arts from Florida Gulf Coast University and my Associates of Science in Nursing from Daytona State College; which is where I developed my love for psychiatry. My early nursing experience includes telemetry and emergency nursing at Halifax Hospital before transferring to their inpatient psychiatric department.
For part time work while pursuing psychiatric nursing at Halifax, I also worked as Charge Nurse at Volusia County Jail while earning my Bachelors of Science in Nursing from University of West Florida. After delving into other nursing specialties including NICU, ICU, and Progressive Surgical Care, I earned my Masters of Science in Nursing with a focus on becoming a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner from Nova Southeastern University.
My family, my dogs, the beach, and traveling are the things that bring me the most joy. Providing quality, evidence-based, psychiatric care to members of our community is my main mission here as an addition to Mosaic Psychiatry.

Testimonials
It was so painful to hear my child say that she wanted to die. Thank you for making that painful day a bit better by being so kind and empathetic… Your warmth made me feel right away that we were in the right hands… Mercifully, things are getting a lot better. Thank you so much for everything”

We tried a lot of doctors but none of them were working, then we went to you and you fixed all my OCD. You helped me fight through it ,even when it was hard. You got me on the right medicine to get me better. I don’t think there is any Doctor in the world that cares about their patience as much as you cared about me. I don’t think that I could have gotten a better doctor in the world Thank You Dr. Aly.”

I truly believe people come into your life for a reason, and for our family that is and always will be Dr. Aly. Right before my son’s 10th Birthday he was diagnosed with severe OCD that stopped him from everything. As a mother , I can’t even describe the pain in my soul. My beautiful boy was lost, and so was our family. My son was in therapy about six month before we met Dr. Aly. Things seemed to get worse each day with my son.
Dr. Aly got him on the right medication and he always listened to my motherly instinct. He always heard me, listened to me, and helped me as a mother. He is also very conservative with medication, so I felt safe. Dr. Aly has this calming, funny, and sensitive way about him that no other doctor has in my eyes. Sometimes he would just ask me if I was ok, and I would cry. I would try to be a tough mom, but I was dying inside for my beautiful boy. Dr. Aly has a special way about him , and he also helped my husband and I during this.
Now my son is almost 12, and he is on the honor-roll, runs cross country for his school, plays basketball, video games, and hangs out with friends. Yes, he still and will always have OCD, anxiety, and ADD, but he is on the right medication, and his therapy worked. He is thriving now, and back to himself. My son wants to use his “ superpower” to be a doctor like Dr. Aly to help kids like himself, and yes he is only 11, but that is the impact Dr. Aly had on my child.”
